Walnut cabinet with practical sliding doors from the ‘Abstracta’ series designed by Jos De Mey for Van Den Berghe-Pauvers during the 1960s. The beautiful wood grain combined with the signature drawers and brass pulls make this a highly decorative piece. Multiple modular shelves and signature drawers provide plenty of storage and behind the folding door you can find a bar cabinet. In very good condition with minor traces of use as seen on the pictures. Labeled.

Jos De Mey (1928-2007) attended the Municipal Higher Institute of Architecture in Ghent, with none other than Gaston Eysselinck as his teacher. In the 1950s, De Mey himself became known as one of the best Belgian furniture designers, and rightly so. He worked as a designer for Van Den Berghe-Pauvers in Ghent, as well as for Luxus in Kortrijk. In 1968 he starts a successful career as a painter.
